    Profile of Godswill Obot AkpaBio

Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio is a Nigerian Lawyer and politician who is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Senate’s Minority Leader. He was also Governor of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria from (May 29, 2007 – May 29, 2015).

He is a former Senate Minority Leader under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Akpabio is also a former Commissioner and Governor of Akwa Ibom State. Senator Godswill Akpabio shocked the world by announcing his resignation as the Minority Leader and decamping to the ruling APC just days later.

The story of Godswill Akpabio is very typical of Nollywood home movies. It describes a young man born into a very noble family, but abandoned after the death of his father. The young Akpabio runs to his maternal family, and many years later comes back a “made” man.

If there is any politician who would never be forgotten in the history of Akwa Ibom,  then it certainly would be the “Uncommon Transformer“. Senator Godswill Akpabio’s meteoric rise from an obscure Essien Udim native to an internationally recognized Nigerian politician did not come in a day.

Meanwhile, as his kinsman, I will share with you every detail about the man behind the name. His age, career, wife, children, net worth, projects, achievements, corruption allegations, monuments, notable quotes and so on.

    Age And Biirthday

Akpabio was born on December 9, 1962 in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, in the present day Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Note that by this time, neither Essien Udim, nor Akwa Ibom State was created. Hence, Ukana was under Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of old Cross River State.

    Early Life and Education

Godswill Akpabio is the son of Chief Obot Akpabio and Madam Lucy Obot Akpabio (née Inyangetor) of Ukana, Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area. He was born on 9 December 1962. Akpabio lost his father early in life and was raised by his mother, who instilled in him the values of hard work, discipline, and honesty.

He was educated at Methodist Primary School, Ukana, Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State, the prestigious Federal Government College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; and the University of Calabar, Cross River State, where he obtained a Degree in Law.
While at the Federal Government College, Port Harcourt, Godswill was appointed the General Senior Prefect. In the University of Calabar, his charisma endeared him to the students and he was elected the Speaker of the Students’ Parliament.
